Injection molding is a process where molten plastic is forced under pressure into a cavity where it cools and forms a part. On the surface it appears to be a technology well beyond a home shop. This book shows you how to build a simple inexpensive tabletop machine from ordinary parts. You will need to weld angle iron for the frame and you should have a lathe or at least a drill press to make an accurate hole for the injection cylinder. Sources are given for the heating element and thermostat
A very simple machine you can build in a weekend. Use simple molds made from aluminum, steel, epoxy or even plaster. Purchased molds are also available. The best part is that you can use recycled plastic bottles for the molding material. Easy to build and a lot of fun. A great introduction to this important process.
